BENEFITS TO LEARNING
AN INSTRUMENT
Makes you smarter
Boosts confidence
increases creativity
develops social skills
relieves stress
improves memory
Students work their way up from playing in front of teachers and class mates through to playing in front of a concert audience. This develops their confidence and boosts their self-esteem when they showcase the brilliant achievements they have made.
Many studies show a correlation between musical training and academic success, in both children and adults. Learning to play an instrument stimulates the brain, improving functions like memory and abstract reasoning skills.
Practising and perfecting a piece of music does wonders for the creative side of your brain. When you play a song written by a band but you inject your own personality into the performance, that is what makes watching a performer more interesting.
Playing an instrument makes you use both sides of your brain, which strengthens memory power.
Music keeps you calm. It has a unique effect on our emotions, and has even been proven to lower heart rate and blood pressure.
Joining a musical group at any age encourages you to develop relationships with new types of people. It also develops skills in leadership and team building.
sense of achievement
improves patience
The more effort you put into something, the better the results will be. Learning an instrument takes time, it doesn't happen overnight. With lots of practice and a little bit of patience, your music ability will develop day upon day and year upon year.
Playing and succeeding at a musical instrument gives you a huge sense of pride and achievement, especially when you manage to play a song all the way through that you have worked on for a number of weeks.
